Attend the Research Showcase
Once again, SCJA has teamed up with Whova to enhance your conference experience. This year, the entire Showcase can be accessed virtually through the Whova platform on both desktop and mobile. Attending the conference is easy and free with registration. Simply click here to register. Note that if you plan to submit your research to the Showcase, you must still register.
The Showcase will take place from September 8th to 10th, 2020. Beginning on the 8th, the 2020 Research Showcase can be accessed through the Whova desktop platform or by downloading the Whova app from one of the popular mobile app stores. The Whova platform and app allows opportunities to ask questions, vote, and participate in other activities.
Note, it may be necessary to create a free account to access the Whova site. Once logged in, you must input the access code that came with the your registration conformation email in order to access the 2020 Research Showcase. If you are experiencing technical difficulties, or have other questions about accessing the Showcase please contact us at email@example.com.
The Research Showcase will feature two distinct forms of presentations: Lightning Talks and Research Posters.
Lightning Talks are short, three-minute videos designed to summarize and engage the viewer in the findings of a research project. The talk should contain information on the methodology of the project, key findings, and potential policy implications. Instructions for how to record and submit your Lightning Talk are available.
Research Posters --the old familiar. What would SCJA be without the poster session? Participants may display their research in the form of a poster in a 36x72 .PPT or .PDF format. Participants may be first author on only ONE poster. You are free to use your preferred template, but example templates can be found here.

The number and amount of awards will be based on the number of submissions received. Association officers and any invited presenters are not eligible for awards
This year SCJA will donate to Feeding the Gulf Coast a member of Feeding America. In addition to our donation, we will also be holding a 50/50 raffle. Raffle tickets can be purchased for $5 dollars each at the time of registration. There is no limit on the number of tickets you may purchase. SCJA will match these donations up to $1,000. The drawing will take place on September 10th. Only Showcase attendees will be eligible to win the raffle.
About Feeding the Gulf Coast
As an essential service, Feeding the Gulf Coast is actively distributing food throughout the Central Gulf Coast to meet the increased demand due to challenges created by COVID-19. Feeding the Gulf Coast serves a variety of individuals, many in high-risk categories. More than ever, it is crucial that we meet the needs of those most vulnerable in our community. Feeding the Gulf Coast serves over 400 charitable organizations in south Mississippi, south Alabama and the Florida Panhandle. 1 in 6 people and 1 in 4 children along the Central Gulf Coast are food insecure. With your help Feeding the Gulf Coast distributes more than 20 million meals annually. The food bank can provide 5 meals for every $1 donated.
